One Project Experience

Even before my experience with The ONE Project, I always believed piercings to be more than a superficial accessory, but sometimes I got discouraged when others didn’t share the same passion and views pertaining to body modifications as I did. One of my goals is now attempt to enlighten individuals who are interested body in modification, and educate them on the anthropological aspects of body piercings.

Although the purely decorative aspect of body piercing is enticing, and is the core motivating factor the general population gets a piercing, I am now much more concerned with the process the individual and myself experiences when a getting pierced. I feel the ritualistic side of piercing is important, and I’m going to start incorporating that into my everyday piercing routine.

My experience with the beautiful people at the one project has inspired me and instilled a energy in me I never had before. My life has truly been altered by this experience, and I believe it should be a prerequisite to attend this event if one is interested in personal growth. One of the most pivotal experiences I had was during my blood letting ceremony. I felt like I had transcended time and space and was one with my surrounding. A sense of serenity and solidarity was attained through the means of this ceremony.
This was a growing experience, and I feel more connected with myself and the people around me. I want to thank everyone who was involved in this project, especially Corey who was my biggest inspiration.
Love, Renee
